Floristic composition and endemism of the Nuratau mountain range, Uzbekistan

The Nuratau mountain range in central Uzbekistan represents a distinctive refuge of Central Asian flora, harbouring numerous relict and endemic species. This study presents a critical inventory of the vascular flora of the range based on field surveys conducted between 2022 and 2025, complemented by herbarium revision. A total of the recorded taxa were analysed with respect to life form, geographical element and conservation status. Particular attention was paid to local and regional endemics, several of which are confined to the limestone outcrops of the western slopes. The results highlight the biogeographical importance of the Nuratau range as a centre of endemism within the Western Tian Shan and provide a baseline for protected-area planning and long-term biodiversity monitoring.
