Plant Diversity of Central Asia is an international, peer-reviewed, Open Access journal dedicated to the study, documentation and conservation of the rich and unique plant life of Central Asia and adjacent territories.

Aims

The journal aims to provide a high-quality, internationally visible platform for original botanical research on a region of outstanding floristic importance, to strengthen scientific communication between regional and international researchers, and to support evidence-based conservation of Central Asian plant diversity.

Scope

The journal welcomes contributions across the plant sciences, including but not limited to:

• Plant systematics, taxonomy and nomenclature; descriptions of new taxa;
• Floristics, chorology and checklists;
• Vegetation science, geobotany and plant community ecology;
• Plant ecology, population biology and reproductive biology;
• Phytogeography, biogeography and endemism;
• Conservation biology, threatened species and protected areas;
• Ethnobotany, economic and medicinal plants;
• Molecular systematics, phylogenetics and biodiversity informatics.

Geographic focus

The primary focus is Central Asia — Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan — together with adjacent parts of the Irano-Turanian and mountain regions of the Tian Shan and Pamir-Alay. Comparative and broader studies of relevance to the region are also considered.

Article types

The journal publishes original research articles, comprehensive review articles and concise short communications. Manuscripts are accepted in English, Uzbek and Russian.
